The “Research Center of Psychophysiology and Education”, affiliated with the Faculty of Primary Education, School of Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, was established in 2003 (FEK A 98/2003). Its members are faculty members of the University of Athens, postgraduate students, PhD candidates and research associates.

Our research covers themes within the broad area of educational and cognitive neuroscience, psychology, education and special education. We study the psychophysiological underpinnings of emotional and cognitive functions, focusing on children and adolescents. We are interested in both typical and atypical development. In addition, we investigate the psychophysiological mechanisms of learning difficulties such as reading difficulties or difficulties in mathematics. Moreover, we study factors pertinent to the disabilities of people with special needs and we develop interventions for special education.

In the Research Center we run a number of studies, which rely on the kind participation of volunteers, both younger (5 years old and above) or older (adults). If you would like to participate in our studies or if you need more information about them, please contact us at rcpe@primedu.uoa.gr or mpapadatou@primedu.uoa.gr.
