I have been a member of the Research Center of Psychophysiology and Education since 2005 and I have participated in various research studies in the field of Special Education. My PhD work, which is in progress, focuses on cerebral laterality of deaf and hearing students. The aim of my thesis is to explore the differences in brain latearalization between hearing impaired and hearing children during the production of their mother tongue –sign language and oral Greek language respectively. For this purpose I use behavioral measures and a brain imaging technique, functional trascranial Doppler ultrasound (fTCD). I have also worked at special education settings since 2008, focusing on training children with severe disabilities (autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome etc). Moreover, as a Greek Sign Language interpreter I provide interpretation services in various events, such as international conferences, lectures, meetings. Also, I have been working at SKAI TV since January 2010, where I interpret the daily news segment in Greek Sign Language for the deaf/hearing impaired people.
